Philip Barnes

Phil is a Patent Attorney with experience in both private practice and in-house. He can advise and assist in the creation and management of IP portfolios, as well as providing commercially-focussed advice on existing IP and inform IP strategy.

Phil is also an ex-P6/FD4 examiner and creates/runs IP training courses for the CIPA FD4 examination and sits on the CIPA Commercialisation Committee. Since the creation of The Earthshot Prize, Phil has been involved in reviewing the IP portfolios of nominees and making sure the publicity surrounding their nomination does not negatively impact the protectability of their ideas.
